Alabama Safe Teen Driving Coalition News Conference

Alabama ranks #2 in the nation in the rate of teenagers killed behind the wheel in motor vehicle crashes. To help reduce this tragic number, Children’s of Alabama has partnered with the Alabama Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Alabama Department of Public Health, the Alabama Department of Public Safety, the Alabama Department of Transportation and a number of other state agencies dedicated to the health and wellbeing of children to form the Alabama Safe Teen Driving Coalition.

Thanks to a grant from The Allstate Foundation, the AAP-AL and the Safe Teen Driving Coalition today unveiled a teen driving toolkit of educational materials designed to help pediatricians initiate important discussions of safe driving with teenage patients and their parents. The toolkits will be distributed during the AAP-AL fall meeting Sept. 28-29.
