Regions Bank and Cheeriodicals have brought cheer in the form of 360 big green boxes to patients at Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham during a “Cheeriodicals Day” event held on November 7, 2013. Cheeriodicals are “big green boxes of cheer” made up, in this case, of age-appropriate magazines and activity books, room decorations, puzzles, stickers, games and more goodies for the children to enjoy.
“We are so excited to have Regions Bank associates and Cheeriodicals visit Children’s of Alabama today,” said Cayleigh Cummings, Coordinator, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. “We sincerely appreciate Regions Bank sponsoring this day of smiles. All of our patients were thrilled to receive such special and fun gifts.”
“We’re excited to work with Regions Bank to bring smiles to each child at Children’s of Alabama,” said Gary Parisher, President of Cheeriodicals. “Regions Bank has such a well-established history of giving back to our community and this event allows them to measure the impact of their gift in smiles.”
After a special delivery to the hospital free of charge by MoveDaddy.com, Cheeriodicals and an enthusiastic team from Regions Bank began handing out the big green boxes of cheer to patient families at Children’s. The boxes were tailored to boys or girls and specific age groups and are sure to bring joy to the children.
More than 125 associates from Regions Bank in Greater Birmingham participated in the packaging and delivery of Cheeriodicals for Children’s of Alabama as part of the bank’s Share the Good community service campaign. Share the Good is a month-long, company-wide effort to give back to the local communities served by the bank through service, education and volunteerism.
“We chose to sponsor this event because of the impact it has in children’s lives. The Cheeriodicals provide a much needed smile, a break from challenges the children and their families face,” said Bill Horton, North Central Alabama area president, Regions Bank.. “While our associates take time throughout the year to give back to local organizations, as part of our Share the Good community service focus this week, more than 125 of our local associates had the opportunity to be involved in a very hands-on way by packaging and delivering the Cheeriodicals while also having fun as a team.”
Cheeriodicals Day is catching on across the country. Cheeriodicals recently worked with children’s hospitals in Memphis, Atlanta, New Orleans, St. Louis, Columbus, Ft. Lauderdale, Detroit and Omaha on Cheeriodicals Days and has plans to continue working with corporate sponsors to continue to bring cheer to children’s hospitals throughout the country.
