BIRMINGHAM (Dec. 5, 2013) – Hundreds of toys and games collected by law enforcement agencies from across the state will be delivered by Santa Claus and law enforcement officers to Children’s during the 2nd Annual Operation Toy Drop on Friday, Dec. 6. The toys and games will be used to stock the shelves of the hospital’s Sugar Plum shop, a special holiday toy shop operated by hospital staff, corporate sponsors and community volunteers that allows parents of children who are hospitalized at Christmastime to “shop” for toys for the patient and his/her siblings free of charge.
Operation Toy Drop will take place in the main lobby of Children’s McWane Building (1600 7th Ave. S., Birmingham 35233) beginning at 12:45 p.m.
Plans for Santa to deliver the goodies to Children’s via helicopters from 14 law enforcement agencies across Alabama had to be cancelled due to inclement weather.
