How to Refer to Children’s
Refer to the organization and its complete network of pediatric health care as “Children’s of Alabama” on first reference and “Children’s” on subsequent references.
Refer to the newly-completed expansion building as the “Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children.”
Refer to the “Russell Campus” when speaking of the location of the Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children and adjacent buildings contained within an area from 4th Ave. S. to 7th Ave. S. between 16th and 17th Streets.
Children’s should never be referred to as “UAB’s Children’s Hospital,” “Birmingham Children’s Hospital” or any other similar way.
Patients who are diagnosed with cancer or blood diseases are treated at The Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s. Second reference to ACCCBD is acceptable.
